Marvelous Masking, part 1

A friend and co-worker of mine was a victim of some flash flooding we had in our area in the last week or so.  You can see a video here of the some of the rescue efforts that were going on.  If you watch the video close enough, you can see how the water level on the legs of the men standing in the pickup truck (as well as one of the cars completely disappearing under water!).  She has a split level home and the water was up to the top of her garage door.  Needless to say, she has a lot of work ahead of her.

I wanted to make a thinking of you card that was sort of related to floods.  I had this big scheme worked out in my head and try as I might, I just couldn't get it to work out on paper.  So I finally abandoned that plan and opted for something else - besides, I couldn't find a really good flood-y sentiment to go with it.

I remembered Wee Memories was having a one layered challenge so I thought I'd make a one layer thinking of you card.  I got it all done and realized, I had missed the deadline!  But no worries, because my final card still fits with their current challenge (got lucky with that one!!)

So here it is:

I used the Hero Arts Sketch from Lily Pad.  I masked out the three columns and masked a scalloped along with them.  I stamped my background then removed all of the maskes.  Then I put a circle mask in the middle of the scallop and added some ink to define the scallop.  Then I stamped the adorable little owl in the center and colored him in.  I added the sentiment to the bottom right, rounded the corners, then applied some glossy accents to his nose and beak.  All done!

It's no flood card, but hopefully the little owl will make her smile.

P.S.  Did you see I was an Honorable Gnome at the Lawnscaping Challenge #17 for this card?  :-D
