A Cheery Sympathy Card

I see a lot of sympathy cards that to me are just depressing.  I think a sympathy card can be bright while still showing sympathy so I tried to make one of my own that I will be adding to the Wee Memories #57 challenge and the CPS #219 challenge.

Here's the sketch from CPS:
And here's my 'bright' sympathy card:

Hey Chickie!

Using the sketch from LilyPad:
I made a card to use in both the Lily Pad challenge and the WeeMemories #57 challenge.  I wanted to make a shaped card with one of my Spellbinders dies and though this little chickie fit inside perfectly.

I think since I made the little chick on polka dot paper, I will also enter this card in the Lawnscaping Polka Dot challenge.

SUPPLIES -

Lawn Fawn Teeny Tiny Backdrops
Caribbean Twine from the Twinery
Milled Lavender Distress Ink

Wee Memories #56 and Lily Pad Embossing Challenges

Today I created a card that can be used in two challenges - Wee Memories #56 and Lily Pad Cards Embossing Challenge.  I've been dying to try the dry embossed frame that I saw on Kristina Werner's Make a Card Monday video and finally had a reason to do it!!  It turned out much better than I expected.  I added some heat embossing and a Dazzles stacked rose for the final card:

I have a vacation week this week and have every intention of doing some major spring cleaning of the basement and my craft space.  I've been working so hard the last two days, I've been to exhausted to do much crafting, but today... TODAY I made a point of doing a little something fun.  Using the sketch in CPS #218 challenge:

and the call for Polka Dots at the Lawnscaping challenge, I was inspired to do a birthday card -

CPS Card Sketch 217

**This is my second post today so please scroll down to catch both posts!"

And here's my card:

Wee Memories Challenge #55 - C.R.A.F.T.S

This week's Wee Memories Challenge is C.R.A.F.T.S - Color, Ribbon, Acrylic, Floral, Twine and Stamps.  I wanted to make a simple card that combined a couple of these items, so here it is:

Started with a 4 3/4 square card base.  I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the dots to give the background some interest.  Stamped and embossed the sentiment.  Tied the twine around the card.  Added the flower. And rounded the bottom two corners.

SUPPLIES -
Stampin' Up!'s A Word For You Stamp Set
Twine from the Twinery in Cappucino, Honeydew, and Blossom
2.5" Pajama Grosgrain Flower by Bazzill
Versamark
White Embossing Powder
Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

I think in the end I combined Color, Ribbon, Floral, Twine, and Stamps.  Now if only I could have found some acrylic to go with it!

Happy NSD!!

What crafty things did you create during National Scrapbooking Day??  I had the unfortunate pleasure of working this weekend, so I did not get to spend as much time crafting as I would have liked, but I forced myself out to one of the local stores to gather supplies during the sales for NSD and was inspired to get something done before heading off for bed and another day at work.

I also realized - tomorrow is Mother's Day.  I've had a few little gifts stashed waiting for the day, but I never took the time to wrap them, so...

I crafted a cute little gift bag for mom.

Finished bag minus the gifts :-)
I've been dying to use the Fanciful Frames set from Lawn Fawn and had the perfect idea for the gift bag.

Close up of the center
I think my mom will enjoy it!

SUPPLIES
Stamps - Lawn Fawn's Fanciful Frames and Jessie's ABCs; Ketto's Dolly from Stamping Bella
Kioshi Paper from Basic Grey
Bloomers from Basic Grey
Twine from the Twinery in Cappucino, Peapod, and Lavendar
Antique Linen Distress Ink
Various Copic markers
and some paper tape I had lying around

Enjoy what's left of NSD and to all the mother's out there - Happy Mother's Day!

Two Challenges! (continued)

PART TWO -

The next card I came up with, I had my sister-in-law in mind.  Her birthday is next Monday and I wanted to make a cute card for her.  She studies crows on an island in the Pacific so I had to do something with crows.  I saw the pop-up card idea on a you tube video which I can't seem to find now (if someone knows where it is let me know so I can give credit!).
