I was thinking of what I wanted to do with this week's sketch at CPS
when it suddenly hit me. I didn't want the sketch to just be the front of the card, I wanted the sketch to be how the card functioned.
Once I had that epiphany, I decided to combine it with
and Lily Pad's Simon Says Stamps' Resist Challenge. With all of that in mind, I came up with this Halloween card:
SUPPLIES -
PAPER - 1/2 lb Halloween scrap pack that I got from AC Moore
STAMPS - $1 stamps from AC Moore/Michael's
OTHER - Ribbon from stash; watercolor pencils
Once I had that epiphany, I decided to combine it with
and Lily Pad's Simon Says Stamps' Resist Challenge. With all of that in mind, I came up with this Halloween card:
I stamped the scattered dots on some ivory card stock (I didn't actually have any ivory card stock, so I end up using the back of some patterend paper that I wasn't too fond of) using Versamark ink. Then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I covered one piece in two shades of purple distress ink and the other was covered in two shades of orange. I used ivory paper because I didn't want the emboss resist to be such a stark white color once the purple and orange were added.
I cut the purple into two circles with my Spellbinders dies and adhered them to two black scalloped circles also cut with my Spellbinders. I scored the circles down the middle and adhered just the bottom half to the black card base so the top halves would be the card "doors." Then I cut the orange down to be the base of the card inside, and matted it on the black card stock covering the bottom of the scalloped circles. I put a piece of ribbon around it all to keep the card closed.
On the inside, I die cut a scalloped oval and while the oval was still in the die, I sponged a little of the lighter purple distress ink around the edge for a little dimension. I stamped two sentiments in the center(which I got out of the dollar bin at AC Moore or Michael's) and adhered it to the center of the base.
I cut a 2nd scalloped oval and inked it like I did the one for the inside. I stamped Bella image in the center and colored her hair, skin, and boots in using my watercolor pencils. I stamped the image again on some orange, lightly patterned paper and cut out her custome and bucket to paper piece those. I added some black enamel accents to the customes face. I adhered the image on the right sided circle scallop only and lined it up right over the inside sentiment panel. To finish it all off, I tied a bow with the ribbon to keep it closed.
And because this song has been running through my head ever since I stamped that sentiment for the inside of the card, I thought I'd share it with you... Enjoy :-)
