Crochet for the Playdate Cafe

When I saw the colors for this weeks playdate cafe, I was stumped.  What do you think???

I went into my craft space and pulled out some distress inks that matched the colors and made a water color background for a card, but couldn't figure out exactly how to use it so I put it away and figured i'd get back to it.

Then while I was exploring the web, I found this crochet pattern for a beanie and I had a plan.  I scoured my yarn stash and found four suitable colors then got to work.  It only took about two hours to crochet this up!

I still have the distress ink background lying on my desk...I still have time to figure something out with it ;)

Color Splashed Congrats

I'm playing along with a few challenges today - feels like it's been ages since I've made cards for a challenge! Here are the challenges I'm playing along with (click on the images to go to the challenge websites):

I was so excited to participate in a couple of challenges that not only did I make one card, I made a whole set of encouragement/congrats cards:

I didn't have any bright blue card stock that I liked for what I had in my head, so I grabbed a piece of Neenah Solar White and covered it with one of the summer Distress Inks - Salty Ocean.  The color was perfect for what I wanted!

To make the sentiment banner pop from the patterned background, I inked the edges with the Salty Ocean ink pad. And for those counting my layers for the YCU challenge - there's FIVE :)

It was a quick set to make and I can see lots of possibilities in all colors of the rainbow with this one!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Father's Day

I hope all the father's out there had a great Father's Day!   I was playing with washi tape again when I made my father's day card for this year.  Here it is:

I took some diagonal striped washi tape and layered for the background.  I kept it pretty simple to keep it kind of masculine.  I repeated the same washi tape technique on the inside:

Baby Shower Elephants

Just a quick share today.  A card I made for a friends baby shower:

It was a quick card to make - I stamped the image with markers then masked it off.  I used a finger dauber to stampe the dots and used the same marker to add the lines.  I added some Stickles to the dots and, that was it.  Quick and simple.  I love when they come together like that!

Delayed Mother's Day

I thought I'd work on a Father's Day card today and while I was doing that I realized I had never shared my Mother's Day tags.  So here there are, even if they are almost a month late!

I used some Ice Resin to create the butterfly on the puple tag and colored it with some alcohol inks.

Since the resin took over night to cure, I got impatient so for the 2nd tag, I found a stamp and used a blender pen and some inks to color it in.

For each tag, I covered a piece of white paper with ink then used the same ink to stamp the pattern.  It's pretty clear on the blue tag but not so bold on the purple one.  Then to finish them both off, I added a few gems to sparkle.
