Speedy Recovery

Back in July, I participated in the Young Crafters Unite Blog Hop.  For that post I made a onesie card for one of my expecting co-workers (you can see that post here).  She had a baby boy about two weeks ago, but has found herself back in the hospital because he has an E. coli infection.  The last I heard, the baby is doing much better, but we still want to send her our well wishes, so I came up with this little card for her and baby -

I stamped the full stamp onto a piece of scratch paper then stamped it three times along the card without reinking.  For the colored turtle, I inked up everything but the ice bag on his shell and stamped that fully inked at the end.  I drew in the rest of his shell with a black marker and colored him in with some water color pencils.  I thought I needed something in the lower right corner and was going to add a few rhinestones when I remembered the adorable little bug that is also part of this set so I stamped it three times without reinking and colored the first one in to look like a little lady bug.  Then I added some turtle colored twines alonge the top and rounded the bottom two corners.

I don't have a picture of it, but the inside is stamped with the punny sentiment from the set that says, "wishing you a speedy recovery."

This little card will be playing along with the following challenge -

Thanks Britta and Marie for continuing the fun of the blog hop with the challenges!!

Scooter = Monster?!?!

Did you enjoy the Young Crafters Unite Blog Hop??  If you missed my post, you can find it here.  I had a great time look at everyones blogs and seeing all of their favorites.

When I first saw the Spiffy Scooters set by Paper Smooches, I had to have it.  I don't know why but something about it drew it in.  I was sitting at my desk the other day staring at the set deciding what I wanted to do with it, when I noticed a pair of eyes staring back at me.  Can you see them...?

Well, once i noticed them, I knew I had to use the scooters to create a face of some sort. Then today, I read over at the Paper Smooches blog about their July Sparks Challenge so I took some inspiration from the color combos and the sketches for this month:

I used the color combo in the far right column and the lay out in the bottom left corner to create this card -

I started with the pink card base.  Added a chocolate brown panel with strips of purple/wine colored washi tape.  Then finished it off with my teal scooter turned monster.  His face is a Spellbinders Blossom Two die.  The eyes are the scooter's wheels :-) AND his eyebrows are the sides of the scooter that is in the bottom left corner of the set.  When it was all put together, I thought he looked like a perfect creature for a get well card, so I added the Get Well sentiment from Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler.

And because I had so much fun making this little guy, I went ahead and made another little card -

Enjoy!
