Nuts For You!

I just got in a few new Some Odd Girl sets that I purchased, so I HAD to use one of the new sets for their latest color challenge.  Their inspiration picture is this adorable nerdy bear note card from MyZoetrope's Etsy shop:

One of the new sets I got was Nutsy Kaylee.  I love the little squirrel in the set so had to use him :)

I colored him using my Prismacolor pencils (trying to get more practice with them!).  The sentiment is stamped in a teal/aqua ink.  To add the pink, I had a couple of different ideas, but wanted to keep the card pretty simple so opted for some stitching below the sentiment.  Then I used my scoring board to score two lines across the bottom and up to his tail on the left side.  To finishi it off, and balance the score lines a little, I rounded the top right corner.

I'm also playing along with the following challanges:

Keeping the Mojo Flowing

Back with two more cards today!  CPS's fifth anniversary celebration is really getting me in the crafting mood.  Tonight I created two cards based on their latest sketches for the anniversary celebration.

The first one is for day 5 of the celebration using sketch #38 -

Pretty quick and simple... once I saw the sketch the idea hit me.  The thing that took the longest was getting that flower made.  I've only made one of these before and was not happy with the outcome, but this one I like and it's a great way to use up some of my ribbon I have!

This card will be playing along with:

CPS 5th Anniversary Day 5 (#38)

The second card I made was inspired by Day 6, sketch #37 and by all of the pregnant girls I know (I know at least 6 at the moment!!).  Not all of them are finding out the sex of the baby, but the ones who have are all having girls.  So here's hoping one of the others has a boy ;)

I found the Giraffe tag from We R Memory keepers in one of my drawers and had to use it.  This card was even quicker to make than the first one!

This little cutie will be playing along with:

CPS Day 6, #37
(using Baby Mama with Tina Fey as my movie)

Well, I hope you liked my two quick cards for today.  Have a great weekend!

Copics in Storage

This week, I challenged myself to color images without using my copics.  I love coloring my stamps from Some Odd Girl with those magical markers, so I thought I'd color Gwen in using my Prismacolors...

The card is based on this weeks CPS sketch:

I flipped it 180 degrees and made it a trifold card.  The front image on the scalloped oval flips up to reveal the inside fold and small sentiment...

Then that panel folds down to reveal where a written message would be...

In addition to the CPS challenge, I'm playing along with:
Lily Pad's Patterned Paper Challenge
Anything Goes Challenge

Some Odd Girl's Color Challenge

I'll be back tomorrow to finish up my challenge week with one more non-Copic colored creation!

It's a {Stamps} of Life and Button Kind of Day

With Christmas just around the corner I've been feverishly working on some of my Christmas gifts for people which leaves me very little time  for card making.  Today I decided I was taking a break from the Christmas gifts and going to think birthday.  It never hurts to have too many birthday cards!

First I wanted to use my the {Stamps} of Life set from November.  I haven't gotten to use it yet and the December set is already on it's way!  The frog is very cute and the sentiments are perfect for the set.

Once I finished that card, I decided I wanted to use my Fancy Labels die, so pulled out the coordinating stamps4fancy labels set by the {Stamps} of Life.  I made this card using them:

I die cut the center and instead of using the die cut shape, I used the the cardstock as a frame.  I wove scalloped ribbon on a panel and placed it behind the die cut frame.  I love how the scallops add to the weaving.  Here's a close up of the center -

To finish it off I added some buttons and the sentiment in the center.  I popped the center die cut up to add a little dimension to it.
(I probably went overboard on the dimensionals but I wanted to make sure it stuck to the ribbon!)
Now that I've spent some time away from my gift making, I think I'm ready to get back to work!

Hoppy birthday is being entered into the following challenges
CPS #246
Lily Pad's Simon Says Stamp Buttons

Die Cut Happy Birthday will be playing along with
