Color Splashed Congrats

I'm playing along with a few challenges today - feels like it's been ages since I've made cards for a challenge! Here are the challenges I'm playing along with (click on the images to go to the challenge websites):

I was so excited to participate in a couple of challenges that not only did I make one card, I made a whole set of encouragement/congrats cards:

I didn't have any bright blue card stock that I liked for what I had in my head, so I grabbed a piece of Neenah Solar White and covered it with one of the summer Distress Inks - Salty Ocean.  The color was perfect for what I wanted!

To make the sentiment banner pop from the patterned background, I inked the edges with the Salty Ocean ink pad. And for those counting my layers for the YCU challenge - there's FIVE :)

It was a quick set to make and I can see lots of possibilities in all colors of the rainbow with this one!

Thanks for stopping by!

Ribbon Embossing

This past Friday, Danielle Daws posted a video tutorial on embossing on ribbon (check it out here).  I loved how it looked so had to give it a try.  Then I saw the lastest inspiration photo for the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge
and I knew exactly how I wanted my card to look...

The inspiration I got from the challenge photo was text only and the color pallette - blue, orange, black, and white.  I loved how it turned out that I ended up making two more cards with different sentiments:

Lastly, here are all three together:

I can't wait to try more ribbon embossing!

Sparkly Congrats

Just a quick card for Day 13 of the CPS 5th Anniversary using sketch #121:

I wanted to use a new die set I got that happens to be stars and I liked howthe star on this sketch and left it as is -

I didn't have a sentiment that fit in the star, so I (carefully) wrote congrats across the star and added dashed lines around the edges to ground them a little to the background... quick and easy!

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day - any plans?  If all goes well, I'll have a little non-paper project to share :D

Keeping the Mojo Flowing

Back with two more cards today!  CPS's fifth anniversary celebration is really getting me in the crafting mood.  Tonight I created two cards based on their latest sketches for the anniversary celebration.

The first one is for day 5 of the celebration using sketch #38 -

Pretty quick and simple... once I saw the sketch the idea hit me.  The thing that took the longest was getting that flower made.  I've only made one of these before and was not happy with the outcome, but this one I like and it's a great way to use up some of my ribbon I have!

This card will be playing along with:

CPS 5th Anniversary Day 5 (#38)

The second card I made was inspired by Day 6, sketch #37 and by all of the pregnant girls I know (I know at least 6 at the moment!!).  Not all of them are finding out the sex of the baby, but the ones who have are all having girls.  So here's hoping one of the others has a boy ;)

I found the Giraffe tag from We R Memory keepers in one of my drawers and had to use it.  This card was even quicker to make than the first one!

This little cutie will be playing along with:

CPS Day 6, #37
(using Baby Mama with Tina Fey as my movie)

Well, I hope you liked my two quick cards for today.  Have a great weekend!

Sunflower Congrats

I spent a chunk of the day driving around the county shopping with my mom.  We went to a couple of our local scrapbook stores so I came home with lots of goodies.  One of those items was a Crafter's Workshop template that happened to be the last one in stock and I got to it first :P  My mom said I needed to put it to good use since  I got the last one so when i got home I decided to use it to play along with the CAS-ual Friday challenge for this week -

The challenge was to take one tic-tac-toe row and create a card.  I chose one of the diagonals to use scallops, kraft, and aqua.

I used Pool Party ink over the template to get the design to the cardstock and matted that piece with a matching piece of designer patter paper.  I stamped and clear embossed the sentiment on a strip that I used a scallop punch on.  I inked all of the edges in the matching color then  put it all onto a kraft (crumb cake) card base.  To finish it all off, I put some stickles on the dots in the sunflower pattern.  And that's the card - pretty simple, no fussy cutting, which I loved!
