Gorjuss Thanks
I have amassed quite a few cards in the year or two that I've been making them and I finally realize that I don't give out nearly as many as I make. I don't want to stop making them, but I don't want to have to store them in boxes taking up precious space (that could be used for more crafty supplies ;D), so I've decided to try something new. Instead of making a full card, I just made a card front. I figure, I can go back later and add it to a plain card base if I find someone to give it to. Until then, I may store them in a photo album or something... that part is still to be determined.
So to try out my new plan, I created a card for the latest MarkerPop challenge: Dark Colors.
So to try out my new plan, I created a card for the latest MarkerPop challenge: Dark Colors.
I actually colored her twice - once in dark blue then in dark teal. All because I wanted to use this paper from Authentique! Next time I pick the paper before I start coloring!
Have a great weekend,
Angie

Elf Christmas
I kept the colors pretty traditional with a little pop of blue on the one patterned paper. I colored Kaylee with Copics, adhered her on top of the patterned 'flags', added some piercing in the corners, a few green pearls, and an embossed Paper Smooches sentiment.
I've been practicing my Copic coloring, I still hate coloring with reds, but I LOVE how she turned out!!

Hol-ODD-day Hop
Today I'm sharing a tag that I created for the Some Odd Girl 3rd Annual Hol-ODD-day Hop
And here it is:
I wanted to make a tag and thought the penguin from the Warm Wishes Tia set would be perfect. I colored the penguin with my copics then paper pieced his hat and the gift.

A Greeting Farm Christmas
I've been super busy the last couple of weeks preparing to sell some things at a local craft fair. I think I finally have it all ready so I decided to create something for a couple of challenges. Here's my card:
I used the sketch from the Greeting Farm's Double Take Tuesdays and I colored on something other than white for MarkerPop's tenth challenge. It was definitely a challenge coloring on the kraft cardstock!

Chummy Christmas Tags
Just popping in quickly today to share a set of tags I made with the Paper Smooches Chilly Chums set (love all of the chums sets!!) and the Christmas Sampler set -
The background tags were inked with Festive Berries and Evergreen Boughs Distress Inks. Then I stamped some snowflakes in Versamark and embossed with Stampin' Up!'s Irradescent Ice Powder. I colored the images with my Copics, added some liquid pearls and black enamel. Popped the images and sentiments up on the tag. And finished it off with a simple white ribbon.

Christmas in a Hurricane
Well, the impending arrival of hurricane Sandy is showing with the incredible rain we're getting right now. Since I'm not braving the storm to go out today, I thought I'd use this opportunity to make another Christmas card (especially before I lose electricity!!). And I chose to use CAS-ual Fridays' challenge as my inspiration this week:
I kept it super simple. Using the kraft colored card stock, I scored a couple of lines about an inch apart and then embossed the outsides in my Cuttlebug. Stamped the sentiment, a couple of snowflakes, and added some gems. Pretty simple!
Have a great week!

Finger Print Love
Play Date Cafe is celebrating their third anniversary this week so I wanted to play along in honor of the big event :) Here's the color story for this week:
I realized this week that I have a TON of ink pads... more than I thought I had. So I thought instead of stamping an image and coloring it in (like so many of my cards seem to have lately), why not use some ink pads that match. So that's what I did, but I couldn't use any old stamp. I had to use my thumb :D

So that's what I did, but I couldn't use any old stamp. I had to use my thumb :D
I kept it pretty simple. Stamped my thumbs in each of the three colors, added a sentiment, distressed the edge of the main panel then adhered it to matching cardstocks. I didn't have paper that matched the bluish purple or the red, so I used the same ink pads to color a sheet of white cardstock.

Another SOG Christmas
I'm still on a Christmas card kick :) I normally don't get started this early, but I just can't seem to stop. So here's my latest:
I colored Kaylee's hair, skin, and stockings then I paper pieced the rest. I added a little glossy accents to the ornament. I popped her up on some foam adhesive before adding her to the card front.
I heat embossed some ribbon with the sentiment and added that at the bottom of the panel. Then I popped the whole panel onto the final red card base.
And I did the inside to match (just minus the foam adhesive):
Pretty! Sparkly! And playing along with two challenges this week:
SOG October Sketch Challenge and MarkerPop #9 - Paper Piecing
Have a great day!

Chirstmas Gift TIn
Well I'm still on my Christmas card kick, but today I decided to step it up a little and make some gift packaging. My husband recently got a new wallet that came in this tin:
I couldn't through it out so I knew it would be perfect for this project. I ended up with this final product:
I can't wait to figure out what's getting wrapped in this one :D
I'm playing along with:

TGF Double Take Tuesdays - Sketch

I'm playing along with this month's Some Odd Girl Sketch Challenge. Here's the sketch:
I decided to rotate it 90 degrees and came up with this Christmas Card:
Looks like the glossy accents wasn't quite dry enough yet! |
I decorated the inside using the same papers and the same sketch (there's a few less strips of scallops because I didn't want the inside to be too bulky):

Petitte Floral Thank You
It's been a while since I've played along with the Lawnscaping Challenge, but I had to play along with this week's sketch challenge:
I followed the sketch almost exactly, but I flipped it 180 degreees and put the strip/circle at the bottom -
I stamped three of the flowers from Lawn Fawn's Petitte Florals set with a white craft ink on black cardstock. Then I used three shades of red and a green prismacolors to color them in.I put some polka dot washi tape on a strip of black. Then I heat embossed the LF thank you and added a pierced white scallop behind it. I mounted it on a white card base then added a few rhinestones to the center of the largest flowers.
I love how the prismacolors pop on the black... great look! And since I embossed the sentiment, I'm also playing along with CAS-ual Fridays embossing challenge this week.
Thanks for stopping by.

White Out
I decided to ink up a stamp from The Greeting Farm and play along with the Farm Fresh Friday Challenge this week. The challenge is to only use white (except for the image which can be colored). Since I could only use white, I dug out some embossing folders that I liked and some border punches, and then a little glitter, all to end with this little beauty:
Have a great week!

When it came to coloring in Beanie Anya, I decided to add in MarkerPop's weekly challenge of yellow. I didn't want ALL of her clothes to be yellow so I added in some maroon and teal. I recently started a mini art journal which right now consists of a bunch of pages using mists, distress inks, and stencils/templates. The very first page in my book (which was probably the last one I worked on!) is one of my favorites and is where my color combo for Anya came from. I used Aged Mahogany, Peacock Feathers, and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks for this page:
And I'll leave you with a close up of the image:

Happy Birthday Spinner
Have you seen the color combo at colourQ this week??
I love the combo (and the owl comforter inspiration is super cute as well!). I just so happen to need a masculine birthday card and thought these colors were great. As I got started, I decided to turn it into a tag instead of a full card, so here it is:
I took the birthday spinner from SU!'s Take a Spin set and colored it with markers then stamped it. I didn't have a gray marker so I had used black, but I didn't like the dark color mixed in with the grean and teal, so I went over it all with a VersaMarker and embossed it with some silver powder... much better! The spinner itself was a bronze color so while I had the silver embossing powder out, I coated the hardware so it matched the gameboard. The base, that the twine is wrapped around, is a coaster that I covered with some black fabric tape. I wanted it to have that game board feel. :)
On the back, I kept it simple. I used another SU! stamp and the same markers as I had on the front. Pretty straightforward.
Here's a closer pic of the front:

Lime Splashed Thanks
I've been super busy around the house lately (cleaning things up and reorganizing... fun times!) so I've been out of my crafts space for far too long. I decided I was due some real fun so took a break from all of the house work to play along with a couple challenges.
Here's the card I came up with:
Seems pretty simple, right? It took FOREVER because I had problems with the white chevron piece. I don't know what it was, but I just couldn't get the image stamped and embossed to my liking. I think I repeated it five times before I finally got this one. The black card base is the same image stamped then embossed with clear embossing powder to give a little pop to the background with out being overwhelming.
And a view of the inside:
The challenges I'm playing along with are:
Well I guess I've procrastinated long enough... back to the grind!
