Last MWLW release for 2014

I can't believe it's been over a month since my last post! The holiday preparations are keeping me busy than I thought! Today, I'm sharing the last release for 2014 from My Whimsical Little World. I stuck with a Christmas theme for my cards, but these digis can definitely be used for so many celebrations. To start, here's Celebrate Cupcake.

I used the same paper line for all three of my cards today (Bella Blvd's Christmas Countdown along with the green glitter dot paper from Doodlebug).  I printed the images on a couple different colors of paper and paper pieced them for the final look.  I love that the little sign on the cupcake is blank so you can add any sentiment you want for any occasion.  I added some Rock Candy Distress Stickles to my icing for a sugary look.

Next up is Christmas Star (now just because Christmas is in the title of the digi, doesn't mean it has to be used for Christmas ;))

And probably my favorite of this release - favorite finished product and favorite digi - is Warm Wishes.

Now hop on over to the other DT members blogs to see what they've come up with as well:

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a merry holiday!

Winter My Whimsical Little World Release

Today I'm sharing some projects for the latest My Whimsical Little World release.

First up, a card I made using the All Dressed Up for Christmas digistamp - I really liked this digi and wanted to keep him a pretty good size, so I opted to color him and just mat him on a couple of Christmas colored papers.

Next, I decided to make a gift tin using the Christmas Owl digi -

I colored parts of this image on 5 different printouts and layered them all together for the final look. Then finished it off with some sequins and rhinestones.

Lastly, I broke out my art journal and whipped up a page using the Love U Latte digi -

Now hop on over to the other design team members to see what they've come up with using the new release:

And stop by the MWLW Facebook page.  There's a scavenger hunt going on until November 7th for a chance to win a free digi from the shop.

It's also an Anything Goes Challenge at MarkerPop this week, so I'm playing along with their challenge.

You're not old...

I always have problems trying to make a masculine card, so this year for my dad's birthday card, I found a 6x6 pad of paper by Authentique that was masculine and stuck to those colors.  I kept the lay out really simple and I think I kept it pretty masculine.

I used a car outline sticker from Elizabeth Craft Designs and paper pieced it onto blue card stock.  I used my wink of stella and wink of luna pens to color in some accents.  Then I matted it all on paper from that pad and stamped the sentiment with Clark's ABCs from Lawn Fawn.

For the inside, I used some scraps from the paper pad to add a little interest and finished the saying with the same alphabet stamp.  Clean, simple, and masculine :)

I'm playing along with Inspiration Destination's Anything Goes challenge this week.

Fall is in the Air with My Whimsical Little World

Today I'm sharing the newest release from My Whimsical Little World.  Great for the fall!

First up, a cute little pilgrim boy:

For this card, I colored the image with my Copics, masked it the colored the background with distress inks after die cutting it.  Before I peeled off the mask, I stamped on the sky to add a little texture.  Once my image circle was complete, I matted it on some autumn-y paper.  It was still missing something though.  I found the pumpkin puffy sticker in one of my recent Freckled Fawn kits and thought it was perfect for this guy.  I ruffled up some washi tape and added the sticker to finish it off.

Next up, something for all of the football fans out there...In the Air:

To be honest, I was a little stumped with the football digi at first.  I don't follow football at. all.  But we have a little game going on at work so I started brainstorming and landed on turning it into a Super Bowl invite.  I colored the football and cloud with my Copics again, masked it off and distress inked the background.  The center piece is matted on the base which is edged with washi tape (same tape, I used for the flower in the first card, just layered on top of itself to make the lines cross themselves).  I added embellishments out of my Freckled Fawn kits again.  Super happy with how this one turned out :D

So you've seen what I've done with these beauties, be sure to check out some of the other DT members to see their takes on the latest release.

After you've seen what these amazing ladies are up to, stop by the MWLW Facebook Page.  There's a sketch challenge going on through November 4th that you should definitely play along with!

Also You have until Tuesday night to play along with Inspiration Destination's Anything Goes Challenge for your chance to win two MWLW digistamps.

Life is like a camera.

I found this quote awhile back that I really like somewhere and when I was digging through my stash, I found these acrylic/transparent camera and thought, they must go together on an art journal page!  So here it is...

I used a black gelato to color some white gesso to get the grey background.  Then I used some matte black embossing paste with a stencil for the chevrons.  All of the letters are rub ons that I had in my stash except for the word camera, they're foam thickets.  I added some strips of Tim Holtz Negative Strip and finished it all off with the cameras that caused the inspiration.

I wanted to tie the black letters in a little more with the rest, so I used a white paint pen to add some highlights.

And don't forget, there's a few days left to play along with the Anything Goes Challenge at Inspiration Destination - you could win two digistamps from My Whimsical Little World :D

Boo!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post.... time just flies by!!  Today I'm sharing a little Halloween card I made while playing with my latest Freckled Fawn kit:

When I saw the frames in the kit, I immediately though window card.  I found a die that was close enough in size and got to work.  I don't do a ton of Halloween cards, so I couldn't decide what to use as a background, but while sifting through all of my paper, I found this great bat/spider web paper that was perfect!  I loved the chipboard letters for this and inked around the edges with a black marker so the brown chipboard color wasn't showing through, which made them pop a little more (and yes, technically, my exclamation point is the letter L with a dot ;)).  I finished it off by added some glitter epoxy stickers.

For the inside, I used the bat stamp from this month's kit and embossed it with some black glitter powder.  I used a stamp from an older kit to contain the bats - wouldn't want them jumping off the page at ya ;) - and added a little sentiment.

I'm entering this into the Anything Goes challenge going on at Inspiration Destination this week - new challenge blog and this is challenge #3! This week is sponsored by My Whimsical Little World.  You've seen some of my work with these cute digi stamps and now you have the chance to win two in the challenge this week, so go check it out!

Prima Doll Tag

Today is a quick post, sharing a tag I created with a smaller Prima Doll Stamp.

I stamped her directly onto the prima tag and colored her hair with a brown Wink of Stella.  I stamped her again onto some Lawn Fawn paper to create her dress and bow, layering her dress for some dimension.  Then once more onto some white card stock for her socks and shoes - the shoes I colored with a black Wink of Stella.  I added some random strips of washi tape from Freckled Fawn and a strip of some of the left over Lawn Fawn paper.  Then finished it off with a colorful sticker, some wood veneer and stickles, before adding some ribbon and twine.

Entering this in:

And the Tag You're It! Inspiration challenge (My inspiration was to some muted colors, add an off center, dimensional image and something along the bottom) - here's their inspiration picture for this week:

Penguin Plunder

Today is a new digi release for My Whimsical Little World Digi Stamps and the theme this time around.... animals.  Paola has created 6 adorable little images (4 animals and a companion background!) and I'm showcasing the three penguins today.

I decided to make a set of mini cards for this release.  I checked out my envelope punch board to see what card size I could make an envelope using a 6x6 sheet of paper.... 3.5".  So that's what I went with.  I think they'd be perfect to tuck into a gift or maybe someones lunch or backpack.

First up, is the adorable Penguino with hat and scarf.  I colored him with my copics then fussy cut him before putting him onto my card base and embellishing.

Next, we have a great little Pablo.  He's holding a cupcake, which would be great for birthdays or any other celebration, but I wanted to use these cute puffy stickers to say 'sweet hello' (you can make out the hello pretty well in the pic, but the sweet is a little faint )... very versatile.

For the third card in the set, I used Tooey and repeated the process (color with copics, fussy cut, put on card, embellish ;))

I also got to play with the cool igloo digi that's being released today.

I imported it into my Silhouette software and sized it to fit into a regular 4.5"x5.5" envelope. I used the trace function to create a shape slightly larger.  Then copied that shape, rotated it to fit along the top to create a folded card, and merged the two so they would cut as one shape (clear as mud?!)  This way the card base would have a slight outline to mat the great igloo on.  You can't see it in the picture, but the outline is covered with a glittery embossing powder for a 'snowy' effect.

So that's what I've come up with for this great release - can you see the penguins on some fun Christmas/Winter cards for this year??  Go check out a couple other design team members to see what great things they've come up with using the penguins and other animals being released.

And did you know there is a My Whimsical Little World Facebook Page??  There's a challenge going on there until October 8th to play along with - you just have to create something using purple, orange, and green.

Advertisement to Card Front

I finally got the September Freckled Fawn Oh Deer Me Kit in the mail - I look forward to this every month!!  There was a little card announcement in it about 'something merry' coming and it was such a cute little card that I couldn't just pitch it.  I thought it was a great little saying for Christmas and it deserved to be put to use!  So I grab some supplies (from past and present kits) that were light teal and red to match the card and had at it, ending with this little cutie...

The announcement is that entire business card size white piece on the front.  I matted it onto some matching red card stock and added two types of red washi tape along the bottom - one is ruffled one is over that to cover the ruffled seam.  Then I added a few little embellishments - some chipboard stars, a teal arrow, a red resin camera (which is tucked under the washi so it doesn't actually look like a camera ;)) and finished it all off with some pearls from this months kit.  The card base is an old background stamp I have that I stamped and clear embossed onto the teal card stock.

For the inside, I kept it really simple.  I just added two strips of the washi and this sticker which I thought went perfectly with the front saying.

And that makes it official.... my first Christmas card of 2014!

Ah.... the weekend

It's Friday! And I've gotten quite a bit of crafting done lately so I thought I'd pop in and share a card I made for two current challenges:

Simon Says Stamp is a pretty easy challenge - 'stamp it' (no digi images allowed!), but the Lawnscaping one is always tough, so I thought it would be a fun to give it a go.  I recently bought some Lawn Fawn steps that have been sitting  on my desk begging to be played with, so this was perfect!

To create my one layer card, I used a really heavy card stock and stamped my images.  I knew I wanted to use the cogs down the side so I had masked off that area to play with later.  Once everything was stamped, I used my prismacolor pencils to color it all in.  I love my copics, but for a one layer card, I didn't want to see the marker bleed through.  Initially I thought I'd use some embossing paste for the cogs, but decided to use embossing powders and a faux cloisonné  technique I learned recently. (I learned the technique with embossing paste, but just skipped that step so it was a more flat on the card front.)

Have a great weekend!

Cupcake Layering

Happy Labor Day weekend!  I thought I'd start off my long weekend by doing a little crafting so I'm sharing this little birthday tag I created using another up cycled counter sample and a Cupcake digi stamp from My Whimsical Little World.

I took the cute Cupcake digi and printed six copies on one sheet.  I knew I wanted to layer it so I colored in different parts on each image with my Copics, fussy cut them all, and layered them with little bits of foam tape.  I coated the flame with some glossy accents.  While that was drying, I grabbed my tile piece, added a strip of patterned paper that's cut with a curve (a scrap of some other project!).  Once the flame was dry, I placed it on my tile and added a little shading on the patterned paper with a grey Copic.  To finish it all off, I added a few pieces of bling, some ribbon, and some twine.

I'm playing along with a couple of challenges on this one -

Rocking Out with MWLW

Today's newest digis at My Whimsical Little World are music themed.  I visited a new to me creative reuse shop close by and picked up some supplies that inspired me while there.  So today I have two musical projects using some up cycled items!

For Cadence, I decided to take a couple of old CDs (I didn't pick these up at the reuse shop, but I saw them there and knew I had a stack of old ones from my hubby and thought they'd be perfect for this!) and turn them into a notebook:

I started by masking the word 'notes' with a few stickers and painting the entire CD black.  Then I removed the stickers to have the silver show through.  I colored Cadence with Copics and attached her to the front and spread some bling bubbles around here.  I painted a second CD to use as the back cover and covered both of the CDs with paper on the non painted sides.  I punched the CD using my Cinch binder and added some ribbons to the rings once it was filled with paper.

Another thing I picked up at the reuse store was this household sample (I'm not sure if it's flooring or countertop or what, but I always see them at hard ware stores and thing they'd be great for something!).  Since the sample already had a hole punched in it and nicely rounded corners, I decided to use the whole thing for a tag to spotlight Marcia:

I tried a new color combo for her skiing and love how she turned out :)  I used white embossing paste on the cassette stencil over the tag.  I love that the sample had the speckled background already so it wasn't just boring black.  I added the paper trim along the bottom and a piece of leather cording to add a sentiment (and cover up the brand name that was stamped there ;)).  I added some frosted bling around and finished it off by adding some seam binding tied with the same leather cording used on the front.

I hope you enjoyed my projects.  Be sure to stop by some of the other DT members and see what they've come up with as well -

And visit us at the MWLW Facebook Page as well.

Watercolor fun with Pretty Phrases

I was cleaning up my desk yesterday, found my watercolors and decided I had to use them.  I pulled out a much underused sentiment set and white embossed each of the sentiments onto watercolor paper.  In the end, I ended up with a set of 5 cards.  Pretty quick and simple!

I used the Paper Smooches Designer Draft this week for the card layouts:

Here they are as a the set:

Adventuretime with My Whimsical Little World

I am in LOVE with today's release of My Whimisical Little World digistamps!  There are two great new images - a car and a camper - and they work so great alone or together.  I couldn't stop coming up with ideas so I ended up with three creations for today!

First up - a card using the Beach Wagon digistamp:

I colored the card with copics and did a lot of cutting to layer the image.  The sentiment comes along with the Phoebe digistamp that I showcased last week.

Here's a close up of the dimension (which I love!!)

Once it was done, I realized I may have went a little overboard as I counted how many layers there were. :)

So I after I finished the card, I moved onto doing a journal page.  I combined the Beach Wagon with the Happy Camper digi.  I thought the images went perfect with this quote.  I paper pieced the camper and the car, made some ground and sky, added some stamps and embossing paste.  The quote I printed on my computer.

And lastly, I sized the Happy Camper digi a little smaller and decided to make a 3x4 pocket scrapbooking card.  I thought it would be perfect for the next time I go camping.

So there you have it. Three things using the newest release.  But wait!!.... For more inspiration visit some of the other DT blogs to see their creations with the stamps -
