SOG Recipe + CPS = Greatness

I wanted to play along with Some Odd Girl's Recipe Challenge and decided to use this weeks CPS sketch to creat this card -

(Sorry the pic is a little dark.  One of my lamps is acting up.)
I love these SOG girls.  And I really like Gwen since she's a curly haired one, like me :D  This one is actually from a Christmas set, which happens to be on my desk since I'm supposed to be working on my Christmas cards!  This is probably one of my favoite pattern paper packs.  I love the colors together and I always like the outcome.  The recipe called for two pattern papers, a colored base, buttons, and a punch/die cut.  I threw in a third pattern because, well, the sketch didn't look right with just the two, and since my paper was double sided, I flipped one over and it was perfect!

I used a scallop punch on the striped pattern just about the embossed sentiment.  Found three red buttons out of my stash and sewed them on with some Cappuccino twine from the Twinery.   And to make each pattern pop a little more, I inked all of the edges with some Walnut Stain Distress Ink before adhering them all.

Since I had some scraps left, I went ahead and decorated the inside.  I haven't found the right stamp for the inside yet, but it's ready when I finally find one.

Have a good Monday!

Gift Box II

Since I made this gift box, I've been itching to make another, so that's what I did today.  Instead of going with a Christmas theme, I went with a generic "For You" -

I based this box on three different challenges going on right now:

I used the color scheme from PCD's Color Splash Challenge and the layout from CPS's sketch.  Here's a close up of the front panel:

To finish it off I added a tag in honor of the CAS-ual Friday challenge using Mandarin and Charcoal twine from the Twinery:

Now that I've done a generic one, I better get back to the Christmas theme so I have plenty to use for gift boxes this holiday.  :)

Happy Monday!

Thanks a Bunch

For my birthday, I got a set of Prismacolor pencils which I've been itching to get.  I finally put them to use:

I love how they pop on the kraft colored card stock.  I cut the shape from the bottom right corner.  Masked off the strip across it and stamped the flowers.  After I colored them all in, I covered them with some crystal lacquer to make them shiny :-)  Pretty quick and simple!
