Prima Doll Tag

Today is a quick post, sharing a tag I created with a smaller Prima Doll Stamp.

I stamped her directly onto the prima tag and colored her hair with a brown Wink of Stella.  I stamped her again onto some Lawn Fawn paper to create her dress and bow, layering her dress for some dimension.  Then once more onto some white card stock for her socks and shoes - the shoes I colored with a black Wink of Stella.  I added some random strips of washi tape from Freckled Fawn and a strip of some of the left over Lawn Fawn paper.  Then finished it off with a colorful sticker, some wood veneer and stickles, before adding some ribbon and twine.

Entering this in:

And the Tag You're It! Inspiration challenge (My inspiration was to some muted colors, add an off center, dimensional image and something along the bottom) - here's their inspiration picture for this week:

Penguin Plunder

Today is a new digi release for My Whimsical Little World Digi Stamps and the theme this time around.... animals.  Paola has created 6 adorable little images (4 animals and a companion background!) and I'm showcasing the three penguins today.

I decided to make a set of mini cards for this release.  I checked out my envelope punch board to see what card size I could make an envelope using a 6x6 sheet of paper.... 3.5".  So that's what I went with.  I think they'd be perfect to tuck into a gift or maybe someones lunch or backpack.

First up, is the adorable Penguino with hat and scarf.  I colored him with my copics then fussy cut him before putting him onto my card base and embellishing.

Next, we have a great little Pablo.  He's holding a cupcake, which would be great for birthdays or any other celebration, but I wanted to use these cute puffy stickers to say 'sweet hello' (you can make out the hello pretty well in the pic, but the sweet is a little faint )... very versatile.

For the third card in the set, I used Tooey and repeated the process (color with copics, fussy cut, put on card, embellish ;))

I also got to play with the cool igloo digi that's being released today.

I imported it into my Silhouette software and sized it to fit into a regular 4.5"x5.5" envelope. I used the trace function to create a shape slightly larger.  Then copied that shape, rotated it to fit along the top to create a folded card, and merged the two so they would cut as one shape (clear as mud?!)  This way the card base would have a slight outline to mat the great igloo on.  You can't see it in the picture, but the outline is covered with a glittery embossing powder for a 'snowy' effect.

So that's what I've come up with for this great release - can you see the penguins on some fun Christmas/Winter cards for this year??  Go check out a couple other design team members to see what great things they've come up with using the penguins and other animals being released.

And did you know there is a My Whimsical Little World Facebook Page??  There's a challenge going on there until October 8th to play along with - you just have to create something using purple, orange, and green.

Advertisement to Card Front

I finally got the September Freckled Fawn Oh Deer Me Kit in the mail - I look forward to this every month!!  There was a little card announcement in it about 'something merry' coming and it was such a cute little card that I couldn't just pitch it.  I thought it was a great little saying for Christmas and it deserved to be put to use!  So I grab some supplies (from past and present kits) that were light teal and red to match the card and had at it, ending with this little cutie...

The announcement is that entire business card size white piece on the front.  I matted it onto some matching red card stock and added two types of red washi tape along the bottom - one is ruffled one is over that to cover the ruffled seam.  Then I added a few little embellishments - some chipboard stars, a teal arrow, a red resin camera (which is tucked under the washi so it doesn't actually look like a camera ;)) and finished it all off with some pearls from this months kit.  The card base is an old background stamp I have that I stamped and clear embossed onto the teal card stock.

For the inside, I kept it really simple.  I just added two strips of the washi and this sticker which I thought went perfectly with the front saying.

And that makes it official.... my first Christmas card of 2014!

Ah.... the weekend

It's Friday! And I've gotten quite a bit of crafting done lately so I thought I'd pop in and share a card I made for two current challenges:

Simon Says Stamp is a pretty easy challenge - 'stamp it' (no digi images allowed!), but the Lawnscaping one is always tough, so I thought it would be a fun to give it a go.  I recently bought some Lawn Fawn steps that have been sitting  on my desk begging to be played with, so this was perfect!

To create my one layer card, I used a really heavy card stock and stamped my images.  I knew I wanted to use the cogs down the side so I had masked off that area to play with later.  Once everything was stamped, I used my prismacolor pencils to color it all in.  I love my copics, but for a one layer card, I didn't want to see the marker bleed through.  Initially I thought I'd use some embossing paste for the cogs, but decided to use embossing powders and a faux cloisonné  technique I learned recently. (I learned the technique with embossing paste, but just skipped that step so it was a more flat on the card front.)

Have a great weekend!
