Some Christmas Inspiration from the Twinery

I've been following the Twinery's blog since I bought some of their twine and LOVED it!!  On Monday's post, Emily made a great Quick and Easy Gift Set that I thought would be great to use for christmas cards for my co-workers.  I know... it's only June and we're plenty far away from Christmas, but I can't help myself :-)  I wanted a small and simple card, but was having problems finding something that I liked.  Then I opened the blog and found exactly what I needed.

Using Emily's inspiration, here's one of the cards I came up with -

I used Spellbinders Labels Eighteen die for the main card shape. I used one of the punches from Stampin' Up!'s Itty Bitty Punch Pack  for the hole on the left and finished it off with Marschino and Peapod twine from the Twinery.  The Happy Holidays stamp is from a set I've add for ages so I'm not too sure who makes it but I'm pretty sure I bought it from Michael's.

**Friday, July 1st is the Young Crafters Unite Blog Hop that I'm joining in on.  I'll be sharing another card using the twine that I love and a few more of my favorite things.  Stop by again on Friday to see the blogs from all the participants and for chances to win prizes from Paper Smooches, Simon Says Stamp, and Denami Design**

Stampin' Up! to a Challenge

I recently ordered some of the new Stampin' Up! supplies and they arrived last week.  Since I'm a demonstrator, I get a shot at buying some things early and I absolutely took advantage of it. It finally showed up last week and I just got around to playing with it all today. To get even more inspired then I already was by the new In Colors for 2011-2013, I pulled up the sketch from CPS #224:

I started by stamping Delicate Doilies on a piece of Whisper White card stock in three of the the new In Colors - Calypso Coral, Pool Party, and Wisteria Wonder.  I punched out the Lace Ribbon Border from a piece of the Pool Party card stock.  I stamped the sentiment in Pool Party, inked the edges slightly and adhered that to a solid piece of the Pool Party.  I cut a 3/4" strip out of the bottom of my doily created background to place the punched lace ribbon over the card background.  I round the corners of all of the pieces, then I adhered all of the layers to a card made from Calypso Coral card stock.  To finish it off, I added three rhinestones.  Here it is -

There are five In Colors total and I love how they all work together.  They're beautiful colors!  The new catalog begins on Friday and there's lots of great items.

One Card... Three Ways!!

I've been itching to make a card that is one layer, but I couldn't stop there :-)  I decided to make a one layer invitation for the Wee Memories party challenge, but make it three ways - improving it each time.  Here are my three cards:

First, I created the one layer card I've been wanting to create:

I used the sketch at CPS this week for the layout of the card.  I grabbed a piece of kraft colored card stock and masked all but the border.  I inked the border with Stampin' Up! Early Espresso Ink.  Then I masked pieces of the card to achieve the look I was going for.  All of it being stamped in the Early Espresso.  After all was stamped, I thought it was missing a little definition, so I added the white dash lines which added just a dash of color.

After seeing the white color pop on the kraft card stock, I decided to try coloring in the images.  So I repeated the process and instead of adding the white dash lines, I pulled out the Copics and went to town coloring in the images:

This was also for the challenge over at iCopic this week - color on non-white.  I love how the colors look on the kraft background. I opted to outline it in black this time to not draw too much away from the coloring.  Seeing the lovely colors on this version of the one layer, I decided to go one step farther...

I re-masked everything and re-stamped it all, as well as stamping on scraps of colored papers so I could paper piece some of the images.  And since it technically was no longer a one layer card, I went ahead and popped up the main image and let some of the paper piecing hang off of the edge.  I also decided to Stickle the dragonfly for just a little bit of shimmer.

In the end it was fun to challenge myself with the one layer card, but seeing the third card makes me remember why I rarely do it - It's much more fun with the different layers!

Simple Birthday Card

The Lawnscaping Challenge this week is Clean and Simple, which is great because it meant I could do a simple card in less time than I normal spend working on projects.  I pulled out a pack of Cupcake Dazzlers by Petaloo that I bought months ago and have been dying to find a project to use them on.  This was the perfect opportunity!!  So here it is:

Cute and simple!!

SUPPLIES -

A Word for You Stamp Set from Stampin' Up!

And since anything goes over at Wee Memories Challenge #59,  I'm submitting this card there as well.

Both of these items I found on pinterest and used them for my inspiration:

I like the love sentiment using the ring as the O and I love the color pallette of the second pic.  So using these as my inspiration, I came up with this card:
